Jacob Cotton, raised in Walker, Louisiana, graduated with a BFA in Communication Design and a BFA in Studio Art from Louisiana Tech University in 2007 and would attain his MFA in Communication Design from LaTech in 2010. His accolades from college include serving as president of both the Student Art Guild and the Design Society, being featured as a student spotlight in the recruitment catalog, and serving as the studio hall administrator.
Cotton has held many different positions in academia. Along with his role as an Assistant Professor, Cotton has served as a Program Chair and Gallery Coordinator. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, in 2014 after his first year teaching at Coastal Carolina University he recieved the Apple Award for Outstanding Teaching in the Edwards College of Fine Arts and Humanities, and his second year was given an even greater honor as being selected as the recipient of the Golden Apple Educator of the Year at the Dallas Society of Visual Communicator’s National Student Show and Conference.
Cotton currently resides in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he runs his freelance design business and serves as an Assistant Professor of Design at the University of Southern Mississippi.
