With a research focus on the interwar years in Paris, Catherine Edmonson studies the European city’s role as crucible for cross-genre creative work. She is currently working on a project regarding the themes of displacement by expatriate artists and writers during that era. The influence of female tastemakers is also a focus. Her seminars Women of Vision examine this, in tandem with the shifting cultural norms that heralded the advent of modernism in nineteenth century Paris. Edmonson received her M.A. in Art History, with a concentration in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, jointly with the University of Manchester UK. Her work has taken her to the auction rooms at Hotel Drouot in Paris, Dieu Donne Papermill, and most recently Christie’s Auction House in New York City.
