USM ART & DESIGN ANNUAL JURIED STUDENT SHOW GUIDELINES & ENTRY

IMPORTANT DATES

  • March 2-3: 2-D entries must be delivered to the gallery, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Deadline is 3 p.m.
  • March 3: 3-D entries must be set up in the 3-D building before 3 p.m. for jury selection.
  • March 4: 4:30-6 p.m. Students come by gallery to pick up any unselected 2D work.
  • March 7: All jury selected 3D works must be delivered to gallery by 5 p.m.
  • March 23: Show open to public.
  • March 24: Awards Reception at 6 p.m.
  • April 8: Last day of show.
  • April 11: All artworks must be picked up by 5 p.m.

 

CATEGORIES

  • FOUNDATIONS CATEGORIES: Drawing I and II, 2-D Design, Color Theory, and 3-D Design
  • FINE ART CATEGORIES: Upper Level & Figure Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Ceramics
  • GRAPHIC DESIGN CATEGORIES: Print, Packaging, Illustration, Typography, Web Design, Identity Campaigns (Logo Design and Branding), Digital Photography, and Motion Graphics

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Only currently enrolled students are eligible.
  • All USM Art & Design studio course-work produced since March 1, 2021 is eligible for entry.
  • Each student may enter up to 5 total works.
  • Students are encouraged to enter works in a variety of categories.

 

PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 2-D works properly mounted or matted prior to delivery to the gallery is preferred.
  • In some cases, 2-D works may be considered presentation ready even if unmounted, and could be entered without mounting or matting, but good craftsmanship is essential.
  • No works may be removed from galley for matting or mounting after the jury process.
  • Any entries that are not presentable for hanging or display may be omitted by the gallery director.
  • All framed works and paintings on canvas must be wired and/or ready for hanging.
  • 3-D works that sit on the floor should not scratch or damage the gallery floor.
  • Works requiring specialized installation are eligible, but if selected, must be installed by the student artist with supervision and approval of the gallery director.
  • No works weighing more than 20 lbs. may be hung from the gallery ceiling.

 

ENTRY PROCESS

  • Carefully review the digital entry form using the link below and prepare your entries.
  • Complete a separate entry form online for each entry and upload image file for each. The entry form will give you the option to upload an image or take a photo of your entry during the process.
  • Submit the completed digital entry form and you will receive an email confirmation.
  • Print two copies of the email confirmation and have one signed by an area instructor.
  • Bring both printed copies with each entry delivered for judging.
  • Hand-written forms will not be accepted.
  • Works not including a signed entry form are not eligible and will be omitted from the jury process.
