Artist Lecture with Borderline Arts Ensemble
The Borderline Arts Ensemble is a dance theatre company based in Wellington, New Zealand. For this virtual residency, the artists will share and discuss their most recent performance work Strasbourg 1518 which explores the historic (and still mysterious) “dancing plague” that occurred in Strasbourg. Through movement activities, discussion, and viewing of the performance itself, this virtual residency will explore ways in which dance contributes to interdisciplinary conversations as well as tie students’ coursework in history, nursing, and dance to contemporary, real-world issues, including the economic, environmental, psychological, artistic, and political climates present in the sixteenth-century city of Strasbourg and amidst the COVID-19 pandemic today.
